Managing Parent and Child Posts
Child and Parent Posts, also known as Post Relationships, are a means of linking minor variations of a post. This guide shows the process of establishing and removing Post Relationships.
For guidelines on when to use Post Relationships, consult the Parent and Child Post Guidelines.
1. Plan Your Relationships!
First, determine the Parent post of the relationship. Keep note of the post id, which is shown on the left pane when viewing an individual post, or in the URL, right after /posts/.
Then determine the Child posts of the relationship. A parent post may be assigned multiple Child posts.
2. Establishing Relationships
Open the post that would be the Child post. Click on the Edit link just below on the lower left corner of the image.
Type the post id of the Parent post into the Parent Post field.
Click on Save Changes to establish the relationship!
Repeat for all Child Posts in the relationship.
2a. Removing Relationships
Open the Child Post you wish to remove from the relationship. Click on the Edit link just below on the lower left corner of the image.
Simply remove all text from the Parent Post field.
Click on Save Changes to remove the relationship!
Repeat for all Child Posts in the relationship as necessary.
