Nene is one of the main characters of the Pico franchise created by Tom Fulp, founder of Newgrounds; the other characters being Pico (Newgrounds) and Darnell (Newgrounds). She first appeared in her own eponymous game: Nene's Interactive Suicide. A game where the player makes Nene kill herself in many violent and humorous ways. In her earlier appearances, she was a very stereotypical Asian girl with suicidal tendencies. She also had herpes, and enjoyed necrophilia and bestiality; these aspects were toned down or removed in her later appearances.
