Darnell is one of the main characters of the Pico franchise created by Tom Fulp, founder of Newgrounds; the other characters being Pico (Newgrounds) and Nene (Newgrounds). Darnell first appeared in his own eponymous Flash movie: Darnell Plays With Fire, the first entry in the Pico franchise. In the Flash movie, Darnell talks about his love for fire, and detonates multiple explosives planted across the city of Des Moines. The Flash movie ends with a plane crashing on top of Darnell, him going to Heaven, and then being incinerated by God with use of a flamethrower. In his earlier appearances, Darnell was constantly seen with at least one weapon on him, whether it be a knife or a gun.

Darnell is set to appear in Friday Night Funkin.
