Recategorize Commentary Tags as Meta

im not sure if we should waste our time on this.
and (just my opinion) "commentary request" is a pointless tag.

I pretty much concur, because to request it you need to know it exists in the first place, meaning you checked the pixiv page it was uploaded or whatever.

In which case if you've made that confirmation you can just add it yourself.

The tag is like "hey I found the commentary, I'm looking right at it, but I'm just going to add this tag instead of copying the commentary".

About the only value I can see is maybe some people know how to edit tags who can't figure out the 'add commentary' button on the left?

That is actually a somewhat believable impediment since I actually overlooked it (and other left menu features like 'find similar' ) for YEARS until they were pointed out to me.

Sometimes there's so many options it overwhelms people.

people will always write comments, with or without this tag.

"comments" are what we add via "post comment" button on right
"commentary" is what we add via "add commentary" button on left

this dang site. i forgot. once its over 1k the colors cant be changed.

You (or anyone else) could change 500 "comment" tags to "comment2" using script tag "-comment comment2". Then you could change the type to meta. Finally, you change "comment2" using the tag script "-comment2 comment". It shouldn't take TOO long, but then the question of "is it worth it?" arises.

when a script is run how does it choose which 500 images hosting the tag get changed?

It doesn't choose them... you do... one click at a time... you still want to do it?
