any idea why commas don't work in tags?

Posted under Bugs & Features

a good question...
i know a similar problem from loli*it. signs like :;,.!?*~´` are not working there too.
to avoid problems, you have to rename the charas/sources/artists.

maybe its helpful to check the tags. with some luck you can find the tag there or a similar (already renamed) version.
a worst case would be to use the original names, figure out the tag is not working and to change/alias the bugged tags.

removing it isn't a problem so much as noticing a comma's in there because if it is it just rejects it and you might not even notice it got left out

There's also a problem with special vowel symbols, though weirdly I think it's new because we actually have these symbols present in a lot of our older images: you just can't edit the images' tags now without it being auto-rejected.

See for example this one tag on 117 images which hasn't gotten any new uploads for two years:

https://booru.allthefallen.moe/posts?tags=bernd_und_das_r%C3%A4tsel_um_unteralterbach

vs this new one people are forced to use with only 99 images so far

https://booru.allthefallen.moe/posts?tags=bernd_und_das_ratsel_um_unteralterbach

There is also a lot of images pertaining to characters from this series which lack a copyright tag because someone edited the tags and didn't notice/correct the rejection notice for using the double dots over the A.

If we had the capacity to mass-rename and merge tags I would be doing it here. Then we would need to search for characters minus name to see which art lost the copyright due to this bug.

I guess we could do it manually, but popular series like this serve as a poster-child for where we could save time/stress/fingers/wrists/bandwidth by using bots or mass functions to accomplish repetitive tasks.

I wish in cases where someone uploads an illegal character like "ä" it would just be automatically replaced with "a" instead of rejecting the whole tag.

Though TBH just the tag "Unteralterbach" would be a lot easier because that's how people refer to the VN about 99% of the time, not by it's bloated official full title.

We can see at https://s2.vndb.org/cv/75/18275.jpg it is the primary term in the title too.
